Quality Technologist

Located in Gateshead, our production facility operates three lines, with an annual output exceeding 4,300 tonnes annually in plain, chocolate, and sandwich biscuit formats. We’re seeking a Quality Technologist to join our technical team in Gateshead and support the daily management of quality and technical activities across the site.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is responsible for supporting taste panels, complaints management, KPI reporting, audit preparation and quality system administration, helping to ensure products consistently meet internal, legal and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage daily site taste panels, investigating out‑of‑spec results and closing corrective actions

· Sort, file and manage retained product samples

· Manage customer and consumer complaints, ensuring issues are investigated and resolved

· Complete annual shelf‑life validation and shelf‑life extensions

· Review, track and file production process records and coding samples

· Produce daily, weekly and monthly quality KPIs and reports

· Maintain foreign body photo database

· Manage giveaway and weight check data and communication

· Control quality documentation within the site QMS

· Champion quality culture, GMP and allergen management through regular audits

· Support internal, certification and customer audits

· Support HACCP, allergen and internal audit teams

· Provide cover for Technical Assistant when required

Skills & Experience:

· Experience in a quality or technical role within food manufacturing

· Food Safety Level 2 or above

· HACCP Level 2 or above

· Internal auditing knowledge and experience

· Strong attention to detail and analytical capability

· Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills

· Confident working independently and as part of a team

· Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
